This guide was published December 31, 2007 with funding from the Virginia Department of Forestry through a grant from the USDA Forest Service’s Urban and Community Forestry Program. The guide was written by Karen Firehock who is adjunct lecturer in the Department of Urban and Environmental Planning at the University of Virginia and Executive Director of the Green Infrastructure Center Inc.

This guide may be reproduced by anyone and nothing within the guide is copy written. It is requested that credit be given to the University of Virginia and the Green Infrastructure Center Inc. This is a first draft of this guide and it will be improved and added to over time. To make suggestions or corrections, please email info@gicinc.org.
